The Naval Institute Press books.
Begun in 1898 with the publication of basic guides to naval practices, the Naval Institute Press has broadened its scope in recent years to include books of more general interest, ranging from how-to books on boating and navigation to battle histories, biographies, ship and aviation guides, professional manuals, quality paperback series of classic works of fiction and nonfiction, and audiobooks. "The Naval Institute provides an absolutely indispensable professional development opportunity for all of our officers and enlisted leaders of the sea services. I think the experience of observing and participating in a serious professional discourse in a forum where ideas stand and fall on their merits is an essential part of the maturation process of any career officer."
The Naval Institute Press publishes more than seventy titles each year, ranging from how-to-books on boating and navigation to battle histories, biographies, ship and aircraft guides, and novels. Institute members receive discounts on the Press's nearly 800 books in print.
